Magical Winter Lights is a spectacular, larger-than-life festival that presents a fresh multicultural take on traditional holiday light shows. Drawing inspiration from lantern shows that appear all over Asia during Chinese New Year, Magical Winter Lights’ lantern exhibitions uniquely relate to American culture and traditions.
Magical Winter Lights is packed with other fun attractions including a carnival, a food court, daily performances by Chinese acrobats, various other daily/weekly entertainment including visits from special characters like the Snow Sisters and Santa Claus.
The 2016 festival, held for 52 days from November 2016 to January 2017, has set the tone to become a holiday tradition of the greater Houston Area. For its second year, Magical Winter Lights found a new home at Gulf Greyhound Park in La Marque, TX, and brought six larger-than-life lantern attractions, a carnival, a performance stage with daily acrobatic performances, and a food court.
One of the biggest changes for Magical Winter Lights in 2016 was changing the festival’s venue. The new location provided highly improved ground conditions to visitors, especially during inclement weather.
In addition to bringing back many iconic lanterns from its inaugural year, Magical Winter Lights added 60% newly designed lanterns to display at the 2016 event. Many of the lanterns were more interactive than before, some of which were designed for guests to walk inside to pose for photos.
A Dino Fun Zone with rideable dinosaurs, an arts and crafts tent, and a brand new food court debuted at the second year event.
Magical Winter Lights offered many sponsorship packages to create brand recognition and marketing opportunities to businesses at the festival. In 2016, Magical Winter Lights sponsors included the City of La Marque, Boost Mobile, and Life Storage.
